'Dunes 3 (Turkish Delight)' - Duncan - Colorado - USA
The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is a United States National Park located in the San Luis Valley, in southern Colorado. The park is known for its massive sand dunes, which rise up to 750 feet (230 m) tall and stretch for over 30 square miles (78 sq.km). The dunes are the tallest in North America and have been shaped by wind and water erosion over thousands of years.
Visitors can hike, camp, and even sandboard on the dunes. There are also several trails that lead to the nearby mountains, where visitors can see alpine lakes and towering peaks.
This is truly a magical place that I was lucky enough to discover on my way back from photographing the National Parks in Utah. Endless dunes that make you feel you are on another planet. Photographed as a multi image, multi exposure panorama using a gigapan gigapixel imaging system. Suitable for printing at extremely large sizes whilst still retaining enormous levels of detail.
