The Grand Canyon, a vast, colorful and sculpted landscape that was formed over millions of years by the erosive forces of the Colorado River and its tributaries. The canyon is located in northern Arizona and is considered one of the most iconic natural wonders of the world.
Different rock layers at the Grand Canyon have different resistance to erosion and weathering, this is why the canyon has such a colorful and layered appearance. The oldest rock layers are at the bottom of the canyon and are about 1.8 billion years old, while the youngest rock layers are at the top and are about 230 million years old.
I have sold quite a few of these at very large sizes and each time I am awed by how good they look. I made it a point to photograph all of my Grand Canyon pieces at extremely high resolution so as to truly capture the spirit and awe of this place.
